The exhibition uses debate, inks, film, sound and sculpture to explore the momentous identity change facing the architectural profession.
Its aim is to encourage visitors to define / redefine the role of the architect and understand what this means for the construction industry.
In the weeks preceding the exhibition two questions will be asked:
- It’s 2011: define ‘architect’
- It’s 2051: define ‘architect’
These will be distributed in the form of a postcard (see opposite) to practices, academics and graduates, and will then form the backdrop and main feature of the exhibition.
The opening night, which will be attended by around 300 high-calibre architects, designers, engineers, artists, journalists, academics and students, will also feature a debate with a number of selected speakers.
